For years one of our Thanksgiving holiday traditions is to spend some time together as a family enjoying a movie. Grandpa used to take the grandchildren out for a movie, leaving Grandma and me to cook dinner without interruptions. After moving we try to carry the tradition on, but moved it to the holiday weekend. It gives us time to spend together before the crazy schedule of the holidays and keeps us away from the super shopping which happens over Thanksgiving weekend. Sometimes the movie is at home, but this year there is no doubt about where we will be. We will be seeing the brand new Disney animated movie, Moana opening weekend in Dolby Cinema at AMC! 

With all the movies out there and all the cinemas, you may be wondering why we are headed to see Moana in Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres. Seeing Moana at Dolby Cinema at AMC is a unique experience that combines the most powerful image and sound technologies with spacious, reserved recliners.  You will see spectacular imaging and vibrant colors, hear sound that moves all around you and feel true comfort in recliners that pulsate with the action. This isn’t just like a 3D experience it goes far beyond it.

Personally they had me at RESERVED RECLINERS! Just a few weeks ago I had total knee replacement surgery. The chance to enjoy the movie with spectacular sound, imagery, color and technology AND put my knee up when it starts bothering me is a big deal to me. That’s comfort I thought I could only enjoy at home. Now we can actually go out and enjoy the movie and mom can elevate her knee if she has pain or problems.

Not every movie is designed especially for the Dolby Cinema Experience. From Disney look for Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Cars 3 to be among the few special showings at Dolby Cinemas. There’s amazing music from award winning composers and performers and even though he’s animated, there is Dwayne Johnson! MOANA arrives in theaters everywhere on November 23rd, and the holiday weekend is the perfect time to catch it!

The cast includes: newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho as the voice of Moana, and Dwayne Johnson (HBO’s “Ballers,” “Central Intelligence”) lends his voice to demigod Maui. The voice cast also includes Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” “Once Were Warriors,” “Six Days, Seven Nights”) as Moana’s no-nonsense 3 father, Chief Tui; Rachel House (“Whale Rider,” “Hunt for Wilderpeople,” “Eagle vs Shark,” “Boy,” “White Lies”) as Moana’s trusted Gramma Tala; and Nicole Scherzinger (Grammy®-nominated singer, West End’s “Cats”) as Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina. Jemaine Clement (“The BFG,” “Despicable Me,” “Rio,” “Rio 2,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” Flight of the Conchords) voices Tamatoa, a self-absorbed 50-foot crab; and Alan Tudyk (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Big Hero 6”) lends his voice to dumb rooster Heihei. Moana is rated PG.
