Hot Chocolate is a favorite in our house. So much so that it seems I’m consistently starting in October having to keep hot chocolate on my grocery list. We can’t be the only family who enjoys a nice hot cup of hot cocoa with slowly melting marshmallows so this year we decided to create our own DIY Snowman gifts with hot chocolate worth melting for. I’d like to say we did it all on our own, but we didn’t. We had a little, well more like a lot of help from Oriental Trading.

Step 1. Head to Oriental Trading’s Christmas page. It’s full of holiday ideas for gifts, crafts and stocking stuffers!
Step 2. Order from Oriental Trading:
Round Storage Containers
Snowman Face Roll of Stickers
Green Wired Ribbon
Christmas Ribbon Assortment
Glue Gun
Bag of Buttons
(I didn’t use all of these things but I have other projects we are working on.)
Step 3 From the grocery store I picked up Hot Cocoa Mix, Mini Marshmallows, small ziploc bags and Peppermint Candies
Step 4 Set up the assembly line.
Place Snowman Stickers on the round plastic containers.
One daughter created a cone from a piece of paper to start filling the bags with hot chocolate mix. The other with marshmallows. The candies were individually wrapped making that job easy. We used approximately 1/4 a cup of hot chocolate mix and then about 10-15 mini marshmallows with about 5 peppermints.
Place bags in layers inside the Round Storage Containers. Top with Peppermints.
Seal containers with lid and then tie a holiday colored ribbon around the top.
It is that easy. We were all able to work together and create a portion of the DIY gifts we are passing out this holiday season to bus drivers, neighbors and medical providers. With my knee replacement surgery I wanted to do something for the physical therapy office so I’m putting together several items for the office to share then one special gift for my personal therapist.
The girls and I had such a good time and I like that they are part of the creating and giving. They are so exited that they created these DIY gifts and are ready to start baking breads and cookies to finish out some of the yummy holiday goodies we are sharing.
These DIY Snowman Gifts are also perfect to include with teachers gifts, bus driver gifts or to giveaway as a little treat to those who join you for a holiday party or cookie exchange.
