Today is back to school day for students in the greater Houston area. Summer break has come to a close and children from preschool through high school are back in the classrooms, ready to pursue the academic goals that lie ahead. For some, back to school time can be a struggle due to lack of adequate supplies but one Houston area organization is working to get kids the notebooks, pencils, paper, and other items they need. The non- profit organization is the YMCA and its YMCA Houston Project Backpack is ready to make back to school less worrisome for Houston families.
The Mission
YMCA Houston Project Backpack has set a goal of 75,000 backpacks for 2014 and it is looking for area citizens to donate backpacks and supplies to reach the goal. YMCA asks that donors purchase a backpack, purchase school supplies, and then place them in the backpack along with a note of encouragement. The backpack should then be delivered to one of the more than 35 drop- off locations in the area

Other Ways to Donate
YMCA Houston Project Backpack realizes that some Houstonians do not have the time to shop for a backpack. If you’re the type who would rather help in a different way, YMCA Houston Project Backpack will gladly accept monetary donations with the money going toward backpacks and needed school supplies.

Supplies for All
Education is important, but it can be difficult to engage in school work and otherwise function as a student without the proper supplies. Through YMCA Houston Project Backpack, Houston area youth can get the paper, rulers, markers, scissors and other things they need to face the school year without worry. Buy a backpack and supplies or click the link above and make a donation to this important local cause. 75,000 Houston area kids will thank you for your efforts.
