What better way to end our Fourth of July holiday that with fireworks! After all that is how we started them! And, I know just the place to go! Rainforest Cafe has their own version of fireworks and while it’s perfect for the 4th of July it’s also available to you every day.
Disclosure: This was a part of the Go Houston campaign organized by New Creative Media. I received media rates for our dining experience. All other expenses were my own. All opinions expressed are 100% my own and my family’s.
Rainforest Cafe is always a special treat for our family and I admit the girls ask for it whenever they know it’s around and we are traveling. With all the choices we had for dining while at Disney California for the Disney Social Media Moms conference they first thing they asked for in Downtown Disney was RFC. So it’s no wonder that when we do a staycation experience they would want to do that too.
Arriving at Rainforest Cafe the first thing the girls wanted to do was order their souvenir glasses. These actually are not only adorable and reusable, but they also come with an animal and a removeable base. Guess what! No trip to the gift shop for me, I’ve already done my part by purchasing them this. I admit that mom had to have her own drink – and a speciality of the house.
We ordered our appetizer and why make up our minds when we can get the sampler. It had everything we love from the egg rolls and spinach artichoke dip for mom and dad to cheese sticks and chicken tenders for the kids. Okay, I had a bite of that too! After ordering out meals the kids like to go “walk about” and see all the animals. The Galleria Rainforest Cafe has some features that others do not including a tiger “exhibit.” It was the talk of the table.
Lunch arrives and we are not disappointed! We may not have room for dinner with these portion sizes! Mr. Money Saving Parent selected the Cheesesteak Sandwich with fries. I went for the healthy options of the delicious Shrimp Salad. I mean LOOK at that shrimp and strawberries and greens! The kids ordered chicken tenders, popcorn shrimp and had sides of corn and applesauce. I like that I can select what their sides will be. The children’s menu lets the kids (with some help from mom) select from a number of different options to create a meal that the kids will love.
Money Saving Tip: Landry’s (Owners of Rainforest Cafe and other restaurants) can be found in many different cities. Sign up for the Rewards card and earn points every time you dine there that can save you money on a dessert, appetizer and get fun surprises in your email box just because.
No trip to Rainforest Cafe would be complete without a VOLCANO! Okay sure, some of our food had to be boxed (yeah no cooking dinner for mom tonight!) but it is one of the amazing highlights of your dining experience. Can you CHOCOLATE?! Chocolate cake, with chocolate fudge with chocolate icing. Thank goodness all the chocolate is topped off with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream along with a sparkling sparkler, just like the 4th of July.
The food is delicious and beautiful to look at. But I think best of all is the entertainment value. We spent so much time there as a family enjoying our meal, meeting Cha Cha, finding out facts about the rainforest and playing games with the kids at the table. It is no wonder that it’s a family favorite for us!
