Last month I had a lot of fun searching for “berried treasure” at Whole Foods in Houston. This month Whole Foods is very cordial . . . with some amazing cherries and cherry recipes!
While I wish I could have gotten to Whole Foods on Wednesday when I can combine last week’s deals with this week’s deals that is easier said than done with a busy summer schedule, this amazing sale on cherries on Friday July 13 (who says Friday the 13th has to be unlucky?) is good news. To celebrate Whole Foods Market’s third annual Cherry Fest, cherries will be on sale this Friday, 7/13, at $1.99 per pound. With high quality, peak-of-season cherries in abundance, now is the time to indulge in this iconic summer treat.
Don’t know how to pick the best cherries at Whole Foods? Size does matter . . . but there are a number of other factors when selecting cherries to snack on or cook with.
Try one (or all) of these recipes to really get in the Cherry Fest spirit:
•Raw Cherry Crisp with Chia and Dates (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/3255)
•Spiced Pickled Cherries (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/3256)
•Cherry-Blueberry Crumble-Top Pie (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/3257)
•Cherry and Wild Rice Salad with Spinach and Walnuts (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/3258)
•Brown Rice Salad with Cherries and Chicken(http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/3259)
I have to admit that Cherry Cobbler is one of my favorite indulgences. I’ll be heading over there this weekend to do some fun and healthy shopping and let’s see what I can come up with to share with you.
Where can you find this sweet treat? This deal can be found in the Houston area at: all Houston and Sugar Land Whole Foods Market locations including: 701 Waugh Dr.; 2955 Kirby Dr.; 4004 Bellaire Blvd.; 6401 Woodway Dr.; and 11145 Westheimer; 15900 Southwest Freeway.
Is it available at a Whole Foods near you? Could be, because cherries are in season. Be sure to visit Whole Foods online and find out what the specials, deals and this weeks’ coupons are.
