Top reasons for moms to spend time alone

Yahoo recently published 8 Ways to Be a Happier Mom – did you know that they listed solitude as one of them?

The sweet summertime, the days are longer and the children are out of school. But with the summer months I find that there is very little time to be alone. I crave alone time and promptly felt guilty about it. But I shouldn’t and neither should you.

What kind of mom wants to be left alone? Don’t you ever think that as soon as you decide you really need a little time away from the demands of motherhood? Moms shouldn’t feel guilty for needing some time alone. Thinking about it and feeling guilty, I realized that every mommy wants some time alone; some of us just aren’t quite so aware of it or take the time to make it happen. Not only should we make it happen, but we should not feel guilty about it.

Everybody needs a little time away. Between work, cooking, cleaning, household chores, and the demands of friends, family and community every mom needs a little time away. Why else do you think we spend so much time in the bathroom? Did you thing we really liked spending that much time on our shower, bath, hair or makeup?
