Move over Celebrity Apprentice, there’s a new celebrity for charity game in town and a survey of 25 bloggers, plus the studio audience we were with at the taping of Celebrity Family Feud says it’s a WIN! For the next six weeks, two celebrities and their families will compete against each other to win money for charity. Each team will be made up of a celebrity captain with four relatives or friends playing along. During my recent trip to LA for the Red Carpet Premiere of “Inside Out” my blogger buddies and I were able to be part of the LIVE studio audience of an upcoming Celebrity Family Feud and I’ve been keeping quiet about it – but now I can share!
On the Set of Celebrity Family Feud
Walking into the taping of the iconic game show Family Feud was full of lights, camera, action, enthusiasm and excitement! The whole audience was up on it’s feet dancing and clapping and so ready to see both the legendary comedian Steve Harvey as well as the celebrity families of legendary actors Ed Asner (playing for Autism Speaks) and Vicki Lawrence (playing for the Wounded Warrior Project). It doesn’t hurt that there was a little friendly competition going on between some of the guests for some fun filled prizes (I walked in after they announced them but let’s just say MEN got up on stage and DANCED) so it must be a pretty good prize.
The teams come out and get into place and then Steve Harvey comes out. I have to tell you that no one needed to use the applause signs for either of them as the audience took to its feet for all of them! How could you not? You just know that between these three celebrities and their families it is sure to be a pretty funny episode of Family Feud, then add to the the celebrity element is it’s going to be one fun filled hour!
The game begins and you know what? It’s just like the TV show, but bigger, better and brighter. Those off the cuff jokes? The saying the absolutely totally wrong thing? The blank look when the bell rings and you are supposed to answer – yep all those things happen and they just HAPPEN. This is not staged and after a minute or two up there I get it. It’s so easy to answer at home, but get up there and have someone looking at you for the answer, that’s a whole new game!
The hilarity doesn’t stop even when we take the commercial breaks. But there’s a serious side too. Steve Harvey takes time during those commercial breaks to really hang out with his audience. He’s not getting hair and makeup or back behind the scenes. He’s right up to the edge of the stage and talking with his audience. Some of it is life lessons he’s learned. Some of it is an open and honest look, with a great deal of humility and seriousness. But, being Steve Harvey he can also laugh at himself.
I don’t know if he does it every episode, but this one he even took some time to answer questions from the audience members. One answer that really hit home to me was his credit to his father for his work ethic and credit to his mother for his faith in God. Personally I was also touched by his advice to listen to your imagination and creativity – that’s where your dreams come from and how else can you make your dreams a reality!
But who won?
You may be wondering who won this episode of Celebrity Family Feud. Was it Ed Asner and Family or Vicki Lawrence and family? Well that part I’m not allowed to say – you will just have to stay tuned or DVR the next 6 weeks of Family Feud Episodes!
About Celebrity Family Feud
I remember watching Family Feud long ago and far away, when Richard Dawson was the host (Fun fact – did you know that he met his wife on the show – she was a contestant and they stayed married for many years until his death.) Now I watch it with Steve Harvey and the whole family, while we even make our own teams and compete against the families on the show and each other. A guilty pleasure is Family Feud on my tablet! But we all enjoy it so much why not take it with us? Starting TONIGHT Celebrity family Feud will hit your TV with a whole new concept. Celebrity captains and their families will be competing against each other to raise $25,000 for their favorite charity! That’s a whole lot of celebrity for charity.
Tonight’s premiere episode includes features: actor Anthony Anderson’s (“black-ish”) family vs. 7-time Grammy Award-winning artist Toni Braxton and her sisters; and in a separate game, family members from Australian celebrity chef Curtis Stone and actress Monica Potter will spar off against each other.
