They are flying into stores near you right now! Super Buddies to the rescue! And, just in time for our family to enjoy it during a family movie night to celebrate Back to School. What better way to end our summer and begin our school year than with a family favorite and the newest in the “buddies” franchise of movies?
Super Buddies is the story of some pretty powerful pups (Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg, Buddha, and Rosebud) as they discover mysterious rings which give each of them a special super hero power! They are going to need this as they, along with some fabulous friends take on the biggest bully in the universe, as a shape shifting alien tries to take over planet Earth. Can they keep their special super secret? Will they rescue the planet? You will just have to wait and see!
But before you do, let me introduce one of these pretty, powerful pups to you! Isn’t he adorable? This is Cooper, (yes it’s a boy) who plays “Rosebud” in the new Super Buddies movie. Well, actually he’s just one of the precious pups who plays Rosebud! Here’s a super secret that I can share with you. . . .there are more than more than one pup that plays each character!
Pups grow pretty fast, especially when they are Lab! I know because we had one. Because of this there could be anywhere from 4-6 puppies which play each character, depending on how fast they grow. They come into the Disney family when they are around 8 weeks old and then head off to “Buddy Bootcamp” for about two weeks. Then it’s on with the show! The pups strut their stuff on the studio lot and then about the time they reach 14 weeks or so they “retire.” Each film requires approximately 20 dogs to complete and each character always has two puppies on set in order to make sure they don’t get overworked. They each have their own trainer and boy do I wish I could have brought Rosebud’s trainer home with us to teach my Westie a thing or two! No matter what the distraction Cooper was the star of the show, but why wouldn’t he be with about 25 bloggers each wanting to take a turn to snuggle and pet his furry (and possibly the softest ) coat I’ve ever encountered! The trainer obviously cares greatly for the pup, and the dog for him but I wouldn’t mind being on the wait list to adopt one of these dogs when their retirement day comes!
Now, on with our show!
Now available on DVD, Digital and Blu-ray, Super Buddies can come flying into your home just like it did mine. Our intrepid super heroes won the hearts of my girls. They made sure to grab their exclusive Super Buddies trading cards and when each one of the buddies found or used their power they would hold their card up creating their own little interactive game.
What’s not to like? Adorable pups, family and friendships, and learning about how to handle a bully. What better way to start back to school? One liner quips keep the laughter coming and after the movie the girls created their own special hero powers to take with them wherever they go. They have quite the active imagination! That is one thing mom really loves about the Disney movies, is that the kids imagination grows long after the credits roll!
