If you’re kids are like mine, they love any vacation adventure that involves animals. Whether it involves a visit to the zoo, a trip to a farm or anything similar, they are certain to approve of any attraction where living creatures abound. Naturally, kids place aquariums high on their list and one aquarium my girls visited and liked is the Sea Life Aquarium, located in the Dallas, Texas suburb of Grapevine.
Aquatic Life at Seal Life Aquarium
Sea Life Aquarium is loaded with deep sea life in different forms and youngsters will like watching sharks, sting rays, sea turtles, and other creatures as they swim through the waters. One of my kids’ favorite parts was the tunnel. It was fun to walk through this tunnel and see the different fish swimming overhead, beneath, and on both sides. My girls loved this part of the aquarium and spent a good deal of time here. They were also thrilled when they “found Nemo” and noticed the clown fish, always a highlight of an aquarium visit to most young people.
Besides viewing the sea life, this aquarium has a hands- on exhibit known as the Interactive Rockpool. Here, kids can reach into the water and touch a star fish, sea star, horseshoe crab, and other creatures. It’s safe, fun, and great education for the youngsters. Once the walk through the aquarium is complete, there is even a small play area at the end, just before the gift shop. My kids loved this and it helped them release more energy, resulting in a quick nap once they were back in the car.
Money Saving Tip: We found a discount on tickets in the Entertainment book.
There is one other fact about Sea Life Aquarium that makes it great for families: The cost of entry. The price per ticket ranges from $12 to $15, based on age, and toddlers age three and younger are admitted free of charge. If you want to save even more, just check the Entertainment Book. When we visited, there was a buy one, get one free coupon in the book, making a good deal even better. Even without any discount, the admission price is still very good and less than that of other, similar attractions.
Small is Nice
Sea Life Aquarium is located inside the Grapevine Mills Mall and it’s a little smaller than expected. This could disappoint those who arrive here looking for a large aquarium with hundreds of tanks showcasing thousands of species of fish. It isn’t like that, but because it is small, it takes less time to visit. Families can easily complete a walk through Sea Life Aquarium in an hour or less, making it perfect for those times when you need something fun and educational to do, but don’t have a large amount of time on your hands. And let’s face it- part of the reason the price of admission is so economical is due, in part, to the aquarium’s modest dimensions. There are larger, more deluxe aquariums out there, but the cost of admission is often two or three times greater.
Kids love animals and they love sea life. A visit to an aquarium is almost sure to be a hit with young children and Sea Life Aquarium was certainly a hit with my girls. Parents won’t be blown away when they visit, but they will appreciate the low price of entry and it makes a great entertainment option conveniently located in the Grapevine Mills Mall. It’s nice for a smaller aquarium and the entire family can visit without breaking the bank.
