Does your family like to make bath time fun? We do! That’s why we allowed the girls to talk us into the Squishy Baff Bath Kit. It was with much excitement that they carried the box off into the bathroom in order to begin their squishy, blue bath adventure.
My daughters LOVE to play in the bathtub. As a matter of fact we have more toys in the tub sometimes than bubbles, which is a little hard to believe. One of their favorite games to play is mermaid. Sometimes they pretend to be mermaids and sometimes they pull out their mermaid dolls and design elaborate stories for them to act out. The Squishy Baff Bath Kit was supposed to be a creative addition to their bath tub adventures (especially since today it stormed again and they didn’t get to go swimming.)
So off to the bathtub we go. We follow the directions perfectly. Nothing happens. Now our tub is bigger than your average tub, so maybe we need both “bags” of mix. We add the next one. Sure, the water turns blue, but there is no goo. None. Nada. Zip.
“Mommy! Where’s our goo?!”
Good question.
“But mommy we wanted goo!”
Yes, I know you did but it’s not there and I’ve tried to make it happen. So I get the laptop while their adult older sister supervises their adventure. I find out that we are not the only ones to be disappointed.
After doing some reading of the reviews on Amazon about the Squishy Baff Bath Kit – Blue I quickly decide two things. One, I’m not the only person this has happened to. Two, now that I know what that junk is in my tub those kids are getting out fast! Why you ask? Here’s what one reviewer had to say,
“Squishy Baff is basically a diaper in a pouch; the primary chemical, sodium polyacrylate, is the same one that soaks up the wet stuff in diapers.”
The advertising for it says “No irritants, no artificial fragrance, and no preservatives.”
Now we have to empty out the blue water, making sure to follow the instructions just in case it later “goo’s up” and clogs up my bathtub. Next we have to clean out the bathtub, including the little crystals that are now on the edge of my tub. Then we have to wash our arms off (the adults) and then the bodies of the kids. Yep, this was so much fun! (Please note the sarcasm).
30 minutes later the girls are back in the big (clean) tub playing with their mermaid dolls from the dollar store. $2.00 dolls for so much bath tub fun = priceless.
$11.00 for Squishy Baff Bath Kit – Blue taught me a lesson. The next time someone says “I’m going to order this for the kids, they have been asking for it is that okay?” I am going to read my reviews and the labels a whole lot closer before I say “Sure, that sounds great, thank you!”
