Are you and your family looking for the royal treatment when you visit Houston, Texas? That’s exactly what you will receive when you stay at the Royal Sonesta.
Disclosure: This was a part of the Go Houston campaign organized by New Creative Media. I received media rates for our dining experience. All other expenses were my own. All opinions expressed are 100% my own and my family’s.
From the moment we walked into the Royal Sonesta and were greeted by their helpful and warm staff to the moment we enjoyed the easy to use express checkout my family was treated as royalty. Arriving early, our room wasn’t ready so we headed over to the cafe and lounge to enjoy some lunch. The cafe has a wonderful selection of sandwiches and salads, chips, fruit and sides as well as drinks from bottled water to tea and sodas. After indulging in the delicious salad, the girls took a little break to relax on the couch in the lounge while mom and dad enjoyed a beverage from the bar and we all played a little card game at the relaxing and enjoyable lounge. The girls even got their favorite Shirley Temples, with extra cherries.
Heading to our rooms we find that both the King size bedroom as well as adjoining double rooms are beautifully appointed. Hoping to hit the pool the kids quickly changed clothing and I did actually manage to get a picture before they jumped in! Other amenities include a fitness room and free WiFi. Select from both valet and self parking. We also found that not only the concierge was knowledgeable about the area, but stepping outside I heard the valet also providing recommendations when asked by guests of nearby locations to eat with specific interests in mind.
Not only is the casual dining easy and delicious (I mean really Roast Beef and Brie on Triangle Bread and loaded with tomato and lettuce) but food is art at the Royal Sonesta. Select from chef table dining to ARA to more casual dining with friends and family in the bar/lounge.
I have to admit I spent some nice, relaxing time on the couch. It was raining and Mr. Money Saving Parent took the kids on a tour of the hotel Mom immediately took advantage of this little time and space to enjoy her Kindle.
The rain stopped so it’s definitely time to explore the rooftop pool. After all it’s a staycation, July and a weekend. Personally I don’t think it gets better than having the pool all to ourselves. I guess everyone else is shopping in the nearby Galleria. After all, the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle there!
After a fun day of exploring the Galleria, the hotel and swimming it’s time for a good night’s sleep. My little one is ready to go and so am I!
