Have you ever considered working from home? Here on Money Saving Parent we are going to try to share with you some WAHM success stories (and maybe not so successful stories) to help you know what other people do and how do they do it. You may find something you want to try to help you make an extra income, work at home or just have some fun with.
Today’s spotlight is on Misty Kearns a Director for Tupperware.
Who/what do you work for?
I am an Independent Director / Team Leader with Tupperware. I have been with Tupperware for 6 years now.
What was so interesting about this company that you wanted to work with it?
The innovative products and the discount consultants receive were what drew me in at first. Tupperware is a trusted brand that has been around for over 60 years and is sold in over 100 countries. We continue to rank in Forbes Top 10 list of most trusted brands. I never intended to build a business but after losing my full-time job in corporate America and was not able to find another job in this economy, I decided to learn more about the business opportunity. The compensation plan is very lucrative and the business is flexible and fun. The confidence gained from the support & recognition and the friendships I have made are a priceless perk of the business. I have also been able to earn a full-time income from home, enjoyed several free vacations and a free car plus diamond jewelry and electronics. I never experienced anything like that in corporate America.
What’s the hardest thing about working/selling from home?
I think for most people it is simply being self-disciplined. You have to literally be your own boss. You have to set work hours and actually work them, take on personal responsibility for your success and understand that you will get back from your home business exactly what you put into it. You also have to learn to not let the “no’s” and “naysayers” get to you. You need to be able to treat your business like a business if you want to earn the income of a business. Consistent work = consistent income.
What’s the best thing about working from home?
Being your own boss, controlling your schedule and your income. Being able to do something you love and feel passionate about while helping others do the same. I have a sense of pride, confidence and accomplishment in being a young, female CEO of Me™ that I never felt in the corporate world.

Do you have any advice for women wanting to do this?
I always encourage everyone to give it a try for 30 days then decide. When I joined Tupperware I never thought I would be more than a discount shopper. I did not think home parties, much less team leadership, were something I would enjoy or be confident enough to do. You may be surprised at what you find in Tupperware – financial freedom, flexibility, fun, friendships, more time for family and confidence. Just be open to giving it a try and if it isn’t for you, there is nothing lost. You will have several great Tupperware products to use in your own kitchen and can use the discount for personal use for the next 12 months. Nothing to lose, but so much to gain!
Do you have any special opportunities you have right now to help someone interested in doing this get started?
Right now we have 3 different business kits new consultants can choose from all on a 3 easy payments plan starting at just $30. New Consultants also have the opportunity to start their business and earn their kit for free with a party. We also have a quick start program where new consultants can earn additional free products, cash bonuses, jewelry and a free trip in their first 13 weeks in the business.
