I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! National Geographic recognizes the love of ice cream and has found a way to connect it with the next generation of explorers. Caleb, Jordan and Cameron approached National Geographic and National Geographic Kids with an idea that would inspire the nation to protect and conserve the natural world through ice cream.
The three men were awarded a grant through National Geographic Young Explorer that is helping them fund the National Geographic Ice Cream Expedition. The trip has been designed hand in hand with National Geographic and National Geographic Kids. The ice cream expedition route will take the men on a winding path across the country through more than thirty states. The expedition officially started on July 17 after a rocky start in San Diego, CA.
At each event that the Ice Cream Expedition stops at free ice cream is given to the kids who show up. Caleb, Jordan, and Cameron along with fellow supporters and National Geographic see ice cream as a conversation starter for kids across America. The goal is to “inspire the next generation with the realization that they are explorers with priceless knowledge and to empower them with the responsibility of conserving and protecting their natural world.”
Join in the fun with this Ice Cream Expedition Pledge and pledge to protect what is important to you!
Magnolia Ice Cream USA is supporting the Ice Cream Expedition by providing all natural tropical fruit ice cream to the kids that show up at various events. Four different flavors of ice cream will be served including mango, avocado, guava, and purple yam coconut swirl. The Young Explorers will ask kids to sign the pledge to save and protect the planet one scoop at a time.
A list of locations and dates for events hosted by the Ice Cream Expedition can be found at National Geographic Kids. The Young Explorers ask you to email them if you would like them to stop at a location near you. All dates and locations are subject to change.
