Once upon a time we used to eat lunch “out” everyday. Busy days at work, needing to run errands during our lunches meant that we spent a lot of time AND money at drive thrus. Not to mention what it did to our weight! Here is an example:
Dollar menu items 1 cheeseburger, 1 small fry, 1 drink = $3.00 now for some of us that works but most would end up spending $4.00 and that’s for the cheap meal. Now if you go for combo’s then your meal whether it is burger, chicken or salad is around $6-7.oo.
Even just a burrito bowl at Chipotle or Mission Burrito (if it’s not a $5.00 day) is going to really add up once you add a drink to the meal.
So, if you say spend $6.00 a day on average for 5 days as week=$30.00
$30 x 50 weeks (let’s not include personal days) = $1500.00
And that doesn’t include the gas you spend to get there if you aren’t running errands that day.
Now, I don’t know about your family, but mine can do a lot with $1500.00. Why not drop that money in a jar every day to create an emergency fund or savings account? Even the $30.00 a week can be used to offset other expenses, it almost fills up my gas tank.
