My daughters are sort of dressing diva’s! They all have very expressive personalities – that they really like to show in their clothing choices. Getting ready for anything can be a problem but none more so than choosing clothes for school. My middle daughter quite often complains, “But it’s not PRETTY mommy.”
It’s cool outside today, finally the kids are needing to wear pants, jeans, leggings and jackets. My daughter discovered today that all those clothes that looked perfectly fine at the beginning of the school year are not so fine anymore (I didn’t do any back to school shopping because after all they had clothes that fit and Christmas is only a few months away!)
Enter yet another school morning . . . “But mommy I hate those jeans they aren’t pretty”
Mommy,” Sweetie they are Levi’s and I think you have only worn them a couple of times, they are practically new”
Daughter, “I don’t care they aren’t pretty!”
Well, in all honesty they aren’t pretty. They are simple 501 design blue jeans for kids. So, how do we solve this problem without spending $70.00 on a pair of “pretty designer” jeans.
Imagination mommy to the rescue! A little creativity and a coupon wins! A trip to Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon (ok more than one) and after some negotiations we will turn those drab blue jeans into FAB blue jeans with some iron on embellishments and some glittery fabric paint and all for just a few dollars.
Better yet, there is enough in materials to cover all three pairs of jeans that just aren’t pretty enough.
One last piece of advice – next spring when they have outgrown their jeans – crop them off, roll them up and then using a little creativity decorate the cropped piece with some wide ribbon from the craft store. They last a whole lot longer!
