This year I decided to get an early start on our Halloween planning. There is nothing like having to run out the night of trick or treat to find the stores are empty of all the best treats and then the neighborhood children always remember you as “that house” and your children are dying of embarrassment as you hand out spare change (though isn’t money always a good thing to get?). So this October I headed to Oriental Trading to started with my candy purchases. You may be asking, “What Oriental Trading has candy?” Yes they do and here’s a few things I picked up for our Halloween party planning and trick or treating.

Twizzlers are one incredibly popular treat in our family. It seems no matter what the movie, a bag of Twizzlers needs to be shared among all of the girls (mom included). With Oriental Trading I got 180 Twizzler Twist all individually wrapped perfect for handing out to our trick or treaters, creating Boo Bags for neighbors and they actually can even be sent to school for the Harvest/Book Character substitute for Halloween parties. Leave them on your desk at work and see how popular you are. I admit keeping myself away from the Twizzlers before Trick or Treat may be one of the hardest things I have to do to prepare for the Halloween holiday.
Every one is happy when they come home and find chocolate in their trick or treat bag, especially Mr. Money Saving Parent. After all he deserves a few chocolately, bites of goodness since he’s got door to door duty! With this bag of 100 assorted miniature chocolates, individually wrapped it is just the right size for my smaller trick or treat bowl and makes sure that my candy with nuts doesn’t mix with my candy without. Trying hard here to keep those kids with allergies in mind. This bag contains Butterfinger (a big hit with the youngest), Nestle Crunch (middle child) Nestle Dark Chocolate (Mr. Money Saving Parent) and mom has a hard time resisting Babe Ruth. But what I do like is that I can go online to the Oriental Trading Halloween Candy section, shop, compare prices and have it shipped to my door. If you order chocolate I recommend that you place it in the fridge for a little bit before passing out. Heat during shipping can cause them to melt a little bit. I had to EAT one that just wasn’t the correct shape anymore. It’s a sacrifice for quality control purposes.
Dum Dums Lollipops are perfect for handing out for Halloween trick or treaters. They are dairy-free, fat-free, gluten-free and Kosher. Lots of fun flavors (my youngest actually WANTS the surprise one) but we are going to get two boxes. One box is for handing out and one box is for our Lollipop Monster. It makes for a fun table decoration AND doubles as a treat for our Halloween party. There are several sizes to choose from. We selected the box of 120 individually wrapped perfect for passing out and yes, we can even send these to school too!
Mini Pinata Party Poppers
Handing out candy is fun, but I always wanted a little treat to share with the now tweens coming to our annual Halloween party. So we are taking some of our candy and creating these Mini Pinata Party Poppers.
