When most people think of a vacation do they think of getting away from work or finding a way to work while vacationing? I was recently asked, “Do you think Americans are vacationing more or less now?” I was surprised to hear myself answer “Yes” and “No.” I don’t think the economic conditions have improved enough to make it possible for more families to vacation but more importantly, while families may be taking a vacation, they aren’t really taking a vacation from work are they? How can we get more out of our vacation?
Time out. With the advent of more technology our employers or clients seem to expect more from people, and quite often expect it around the clock. Make the most of your vacation by letting them know you will be taking a “time out” during your vacation.
Turn it off. With smartphones, iPhones, and iPads it is easy to be plugged into the Internet wherever you may go. During your vacation . . .
