We recently told you how we were given the opportunity to review Pura Vida Tequila and since then we have been sharing with you some fun recipes to make using this brand. Some of these recipes make every day special occasions and some are perfect for a special occasion like an anniversary or Valentines Day. Today let’s talk about New Year’s Resolution. Did you make one to go on a diet? Eat and drink healthier? Think you can’t be #livingpuravida (which loosely translated means the good life) and have your occasional drink too? What if I told you that our latest recipe can fit the bill? It CAN! Presenting the Skinny Margarita! It tastes great and it’s actually made with organic and natural flavors too.
The Skinny Margarita is so simple. Just add: (don’t worry I’ll have a printable version for you to take to the store with you below)
2 OZ PURA VIDA SILVER TEQUILA
2 OZ FRESH LIME JUICE
2 OZ FRESH ORANGE JUICE
½ OZ PV ORGANIC AGAVE NECTAR
Combine tequila, juices and nectar in a shaker with ice and shake to chill. Pour into ice filled margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and an optional salted rim.
Isn’t that so easy? Organics + naturals and you are well on your way to a delicious drink. You can use organic fruit juices if you are leaning that way and Pura Vida has it’s own organic agave nectar. Now what’s so cool about agave nectar is that it can also be used in many other recipes, try it instead of honey for some delicious honey baked red potatoes.
Let’s talk about the quality of the tequila. A special Champagne yeast is used, with no additives, and 100% Blue Weber Agave harvested in Jalisco. It’s distilled several times and rested for more than 18 months in single generation Jack Daniels barrels. What does this mean? It means that it misses the “bite” that many other brands may have making it an excellent choice not only for drinking but for cooking too! So far I’ve found it to be very versatile. Not only do they offer their own recipes for us to use (you can find all of them here) but some of my tried and true favorites just have tasted better with the Pura Vida brand.
But what about the calories? Pura Vida tequila is just 57 calories per one ounce shot.
Now you can make this recipe at home! Just print it out and you are on your way.
As always drink responsibly. Don’t drink and drive and drink in moderation.
