Holidays are a time for family togetherness and a time for giving. For some, however, the holidays are not so comfortable and many long for basic sustenance for themselves and loved ones.
Here in Houston, a local business is sponsoring a food drive and is calling on generous Houstonians to join in the effort to feed the hungry this holiday season. The business is Honda Cars of Katy and it is working with the Houston Food Bank to collect food items between now and December 4, 2014. Some of the items Honda Cars of Katy is looking for include:
- Protein foods
- Canned tuna or canned chicken, packed in water
- Canned stew and canned pasta
- Peanut butter
- Dried beans
- Canned fruits
- Applesauce, natural
- 100 percent juice, in cans or bottles
- Canned vegetables
- Canned tomatoes or tomato sauce
- Soup with meat and/or beans
- Cereal and cereal/granola bars, low fat and sugar
- Pasta or macaroni noodles in various forms
Honda Cars of Katy has collection boxes at its buildings to collect food. Just stop by the Honda Cars of Katy offices located at 21001 Katy Freeway in Katy, Texas and leave any of the above items in one of the collection bins. Honda Cars of Katy will then deliver the goods to the Houston Food Bank. Make sure that your donations include only non- perishable food items and please refrain from donating open packages, homemade foods, baby food, or items with expiration dates as they cannot be accepted.
Holidays are great time to spend with family and friends and enjoy a great meal. Help make the holidays a little more memorable for the less fortunate this year by donating food items to Honda Cars of Katy and its Houston Food Bank effort. A little bit of love can go a long way so show your generosity at Honda Cars of Katy between now and December 4, 2014.
