I admit that once I read the label on my daughter’s favorite strawberry lemonade there was no doubt in my mind that I could do better. It would be a fraction of the price to make and most likely be healthier for all of us. It WAS! And, it made a great strawberry lemonade frozen treat too. Ingredients: 10 ounces of fresh squeezed lemon juice (approximately 4 large lemons in my juicer) 8 strawberries 1 3/4 cup sugar 1 cup water to boil 7 additional cups of water.
Instructions: Create simple syrup by boiling 1 cup water with sugar. Pour 7 cups of water into a pitcher. Juice 4 large lemons in juicer adding 8 strawberries at the end. You can juice your own and then follow up with the blender to blend in the strawberries if you don’t have a juicer. Pour juice from lemons and strawberries into the 7 cups of water. Add the simple syrup stirring the entire time. By adding it from the top it doesn’t lay on the bottom and it’s easier to get it throughout the drink. Chill and serve!
For frozen treats I simply used freezer molds and froze for 24 hours. They were delicious – but what was most surprising is that the juice was the best they had every had (according to the kids). I thought it was pretty tasty myself. Maybe we should set up a stand? Since we are trying for clean living I used filtered water from my Brita, organic lemons, strawberries and cane sugar. However, all those selections are optional.
