Were you and your family big fans of the movie ‘A Dog’s Purpose?” I know my family watched it several times! And yes, each time a box of tissues needed to be nearby. We have exciting news for you if you are a big fan! W. Bruce Cameron, the author of A Dog’s Purpose continues Bailey’s story with his newest book “A Dog’s Promise!” But that’s not all, he also has a series of books available for children and young adults with A Dog’s Purpose Puppy Tales series. To introduce you to both the series and the newest book Money Saving Parent brings you one great giveaway with someone for everyone in the family.
About A Dog’s Promise
A Dog’s Promise continues the story of Bailey, the good dog whose journey started in A Dog’s Purpose and continued in A Dog’s Journey (both major motion pictures). This time, Bailey is joined by Lacey, another very special dog, who helps Bailey fulfill his promise over the course of several lives.
This charming, wise canine soul brings joy, laughter, and comfort as he unites a family fractured by life’s inevitable obstacles. The love and loyalty of these two memorable dogs show us the incredible power of hope, truth, and unending devotion in this moving novel by award-winning author W. Bruce Cameron.

About Lily’s Story
A rescue dog to the rescue! Lily is the smallest puppy in her litter and the only girl. Her brothers are bigger and stronger and like to push her around. When Lily meets a girl named Maggie Rose at the animal shelter, Lily discovers things are not so bad. Lily’s size means that she can help other animals who are in trouble. It’s Lily to the rescue!
One Furri-fic Giveaway
Forge Books sent me the newest W. Bruce Cameron books and is partnering with me for a giveaway! I think the reason these stories resonate so much with us is that we do have a rescue pup that everyone in the house adores. But there are times when we all wonder exactly what Toby IS thinking. Wouldn’t it be great if we could actually tell for sure what they want to say? These books by W. Bruce Cameron give us a believable look inside the hearts, souls, and minds of our precious pup. Is it exactly true? Who knows but it sure is fun to speculate.
Enter for your chance to win something for everyone! One randomly selected winner receives:
- A Dog’s Promise for you
- Lily’s Story for your young reader,
- and a $50 Petco gift card to add something for your pup! (Toby is sporting his winter/holiday sweater from Petco in the picture above). He decided to loosen the collar a little bit. Just like a man!
Must be 18+ to enter. Only valid US Addresses (no PO Boxes please) and all other terms and conditions as stated in the giveaway tool below. APR $80. Money Saving Parent is not responsible for prize fulfillment.
Good luck to you all!
Congratulations to Amanda W. of Hyannis MA!

My sisters dog, DJ, is a rescue he was also a “player” in the puppy bowl a few years ago!
Lisa Carey says
That is too cute! I love the puppy bowl.
Audrey Stewart says
I shelter elderly rescue cats. I have 10 at the moment.
Lisa Carey says
That’s so beautiful! I’m afraid that if I foster (which is how Toby started we were helping out while they found him a home) that we won’t ever let go of them. But with a hamster, fish, dog and 5 bunnies to raise for FFA I’ve said no more dogs until the bunnies are gone.
Nancy says
I have not seen either of these movies. They look like great family fare!
mami2jcn says
Yes, we saw A Dog’s Purpose and A Dog’s Journey.
Lisa Carey says
I can’t help but wonder if they turn A Dog’s Promise into a movie too.
Anne perry says
I adopted my french bulldog from a shelter. She was found walking the 91 freeway.
Lisa Carey says
Oh my gosh! We know nothing about our dog. But we do know he HATES water and I can’t help but wonder if that has something do with his past.
Donna says
I haven’t seen either of the movies, but I’ve heard they’re great. I would love to watch them sometime!
Lisa Carey says
Tissue box needed. They are adorable though.
Tim says
My parents “foster” dogs, though they have kept every animal they have taken in. They currently have nine dogs. Whenever I go over I joke about their home smelling like a kennel!!
Lisa Carey says
I have a neighbor like that! She foster’s kittens but it seems more of them stay than go. Loving homes!
Elizabeth Miller says
We rescued one of our dogs from a place close to us where the guy was extremely mean to the pup. We convinced the wife to give us the dog to get it away. He is so loving but 6 years later he is still scared of men and will not let anyone near his rear end even to pet him. We think he was kicked.
Lisa Carey says
I know what you mean! I think that’s maybe why Toby is afraid of water. I’m afraid something happened to him with it because with part Shepherd I would think he’d would maybe love the water. It rains A LOT here in Houston and we get flooding – I have to stand out there with an umbrella during bad storms just so he can go outside.
Darlene Owen says
When I was a child my dad had a rescue dog, although my family called her a mutt or a Heinz 55 dog. She was a small terrier mix, one day it was really foggy out and my dad could not find his herd of cows that needed to be milked. When he got back after a few minutes he heard Rusty barking and she came back with all the cows, she bit at their legs to keep them all together.
Lisa Carey says
We have a rescue story like that too! My dad worked the 3pm to 12 am shift. I woke up one night after he got home and he had found a dog at the plant where he worked. He brought it home and it was in the laundry room. It was so beat up and sad – mom said let’s take it somewhere safe in the morning. That somewhere safe ended up being our house – for the next 5 years until he went over the rainbow bridge.
shelly peterson says
I dont have a rescue pup story and have not seen the movies yet.
Shelly Leatham says
We have a rescue dog named Chance. He is a very sweet 80 lb blue pit that was used as a bait dog. He is so submissive and he never fought back, so when we got him, he weighed about 15lbs and was beat up! He is now a thriving, happy, lapdog!
Lisa Carey says
What a wonderful rescue story! I’m so glad he found an amazing fur-ever home. I bet he is totally spoiled.
Cheryl B says
I have a rescue dog. She is eleven year old now and the love of my life.

Lisa Carey says
My daughter wants to do that! We did work with a rescue group at Petco, and the organization she wants to work with on a regular basis she has to be a little bit older. I’m so proud of her for wanting to help at a rescue like all those other amazing workers and volunteers.
Lesley F says
