For some every game day is a big game, but biggest game day of them all is just around the corner and it takes a lot more than just a quick clean of the house to get ready to enjoy all that a football Sunday has to offer. If you family is anything like mine, you have several game day traditions which not only add to the fun, but help you get all your work and preparation done. Here’s my top game day traditions tips and tricks for getting ready for the big game.
Game Day Traditions Cleaning Tips and Tricks
We all probably start with getting the house cleaned up. Mr. MoneySavingParent doesn’t really understand why, because after all ” with all our friends and a houseful of kids it is just going to get dirty again.” But I do it anyway and found that Bounty paper towels have more than just the one use of cleaning up spills.
Thanks to the select a size feature I can use a little or a lot of paper towels for cleaning off the stove, kitchen counters, and bathrooms. They are handy for mirrors, leaving no lint behind and also help make my big screen shine. After all we wouldn’t want any dust or finger prints messing up the view of the big game.
I have to admit my favorite use to use the small size and place them in a basket in the bathrooms. With so many people in the house the unique trap and lock technology not only get everyone’s hands dry, but also gives them the chance to open doors using a paper towel and are a lot more hygienic than cloth towels. Bounty paper towels are available in a variety of prints so you can even try to get it to match your restrooms, but I admit I like the plain white ones, after all they go with everything.
Setting up for the big game also means making sure that the restrooms are not only clean but well stocked. That’s easy to do with the Charmin Ultra Strong Big Rolls. One roll is the equivalent of four rolls of other toilet paper. It’s 2-ply and strong, and yes one of my friends even told me they appreciate that there are no “dust bunnies” left behind, on her behind. (I have some strange friends). It also relieves any embarrassing request for more toilet paper or maybe even for a plunger as it is clog and septic safe. (Yes, during a big game party I have been asked for a plunger – I did mention I have strange friends right?). But (no pun intended) I also leave a few extra rolls on my wrought iron toilet paper holder, just in case. Besides that, it looks nice in the restroom.
A quick run of the dishwasher with all my pots and pans and other cooking utensils with Cascade Platinum means the sink is empty when my guests arrive. Even better it means that I can use my dishwasher again once everyone leaves and the tough stain fighter in Cascade really takes care of tough, dried on food. After all the big game does go on for hours and I don’t know about you but I don’t really want to take time to do the dishes while my guests are here.
Thanks to Febreze Air Effects Linen and Sky the whole house smells clean and fresh by eliminating tough odors like those left behind by our puppy. The fine mist leaves a soft scent, the girls like it so much that they even offer to spray the house for me before everyone arrives. And, since you can purchase them in a two pack I also like to leave one in the powder room, because you never know what game day food and drinks can do to some of your guests.
Well the house is clean and it’s time to get that game day jersey ready to wear. It’s time for some Tide Spring Meadow scent pods. Just opening the container makes the laundry room smell fresh and it’s great at taking out tough stains, especially after what a good football jersey can go through in a house full of people and a kitchen full of food. Best of all it works in all temperatures so my jeans are clean and soft and my jersey is smelling good.
Game Day Traditions Food and Drink
A party wouldn’t be complete without some great food and drink. That’s where our assortment tray, a little like a game day stadium comes into play. It scores a big TD with our friends because there is something for everyone. Other game day food traditions include a fruit and cheese tray, and one super bowl of simple to make chili with all the “fixings.” And what is a game day without the traditional feast of chicken wings? Try this Sweet Chili Asian Chicken Wings recipe.
Since Mr. MoneySavingParent doubles as GreatBeerNow you can bet there will be some beer and other beverages. With all this food and drink clean up is a snap with the Bounty paper towels, which also make for great substitute for napkins. After all, there’s a whole lot of finger food going on.
