The weekend has arrived and there are plenty of places to go and things to do that don’t have to cost you much more than the gas to get you there.   Find out some of my favorite free events and activities to this weekend.

Free Museum weekend.

Free National Park weekend is Sat. Sept. 29 in celebration of Public Lands Day. On this day The U.S. National Park Service designates Free National Park weekends for all of its 397 national parks throughout the year. Here in Houston, we have many national parks, preserves, and historic sites that will offer free admission  Consult the the listing online, to find a park near you.

Lakeshore Learning is offering a free craft for kids featuring a corn husk welcome door hanger on Sept. 29. There are three locations in the Houston area. Visit Lakeshore online for locations and craft hours.

Girls ages 8 and up will enjoy the free Caroline Crafts available at our brand new American Girl store. These crafts are based on the stories of Caroline Abbott, the newest historical character of American Girls. Sept. 29 and 30. store is also offering a scavenger hunt, where the prize is an American Girl poster. This event is also free and open to the public. The Disney Store is hosting a Cinderella Craft Event, on Saturday, September 29 at 10:30am, 11:30am, & 12:30pm.

While doing your grocery shopping this weekend you may want to plan it around the several special tastings and promotions available at your local Walmart. Over the weekend of Sept. 28-30, look for Smart Ones Breakfast Samplings, Planters Nuts and many more events, all found on the Walmart event finder.
