American sports cars are an important part of our culture and the mere sight of a sports car often conjures up images of power, freedom, and the American dream. One sports car that has been around for more than 50 years and continues to evolve in new and fascinating ways is the Ford Mustang. Here at Money Saving Parent, we had the pleasure of driving the 2015 Ford Mustang for a couple of weeks and we were impressed in often surprising ways.
What comes to mind first when you think of a Ford Mustang? I think the first thing has to be the appearance and the 2015 Ford Mustang is certainly a slick, attractive sports car with an exterior that evokes feelings of attitude and grit. It looks powerful, yet inviting, like it’s calling your name, asking you to step inside and go for a spin.
The 2015 Ford Mustang is available in v-8, v-6, and even a v-4 option with turbo boost. We got to experience the v-6 edition with automatic transmission and witness its powerful 300 horsepower engine. There is no doubt that this vehicle has spunk and you will realize this the moment you press the accelerator. You have to watch yourself, because the vehicle picks up speed quickly, making it easy to merge into freeway traffic and maneuver your way around other cars.
Many sports car fans long for the days of manual transmissions, but there is no reason for fantasizing with the Ford Mustang. It’s one of the few vehicles in the modern tech age that is offered with manual transmission. In fact, the premium edition of the 2015 Ford Mustang is offered only with manual transmission to accommodate its powerful, 435 horsepower V-8 engine. If you’re the type who likes the added control of a manual gear shift, then this is the vehicle for you.
Emphasis on Technology & Safety
Appearance and performance are the first two things that grab your attention with the 2015 Ford Mustang. After you drive it for a while, you will quickly notice another standout feature: Technology. Ford has equipped all of its vehicles with additional safety features and they are helpful in more ways than you think. You will immediately notice the rear camera when you put the vehicle into reverse. It helps you back out of tight corners and the safety system will start beeping if another vehicle, person, or anything else is nearby.
Probably the most surprising of the safety features is the collision warning. I did not know this existed but I discovered it quickly one day while driving down the interstate highway. It is unique because, when activated, it flashes a red light, makes a loud beep, and shuts off the audio sound system. This is good because it means you will not be able to overlook the warning. Even if you’ve got the CD player blasting out your favorite tunes, it will shut itself off if the Collision Warning system is activated. It happened to me just once, but once was enough and I can tell you that it did get my attention! I immediately looked around and noticed the car in front of me was driving slowly and braking for no apparent reason. I reacted and quickly maneuvered myself to safety.
A Muscle Car for the Ages
Ford Mustang is one of America’s most iconic sports cars. Other sporty vehicles have come and gone, but Ford Mustang continues to excite its loyal fans with more features and enhancements every year. It’s also reasonably priced and I really like and appreciate the emphasis on safety as well as performance and appearance.
Visit a Ford dealer near you and take the 2015 Ford Mustang for a spin. It’s a still the same symbol of power and performance as before, but with more technology and style, demonstrating once again why Ford vehicles truly are on the cutting edge.
