Quick and easy football food just in time for the big game day, any game day, and parties, doesn’t have to be expensive or mean spending hours in the kitchen. This Fruit, Meat and Cheese Tray is perfect for a game day potluck with friends or just the family hanging out together, I’m always looking for something quick and easy to put together for everyone to enjoy, especially when there are last minute guests coming over.
I recently shared with you this recipe for Creamy Turkey and Noodles, and while I was visiting the Kraft/Walmart recipe page I was inspired to show off my handiwork with their cheese tray ideas. Mine are a little different based on our family’s tastes. I frequently make one because it is quick and easy and dates back to watching football with my parents. My dad would have a meat and cheese tray, fruits and other snacks for all of us to share and it’s a nice memory.
Football Food: Meat, Cheese and Fruit Tray
Here’s what you will need:
Sharp Cheddar Cheese (I used Cracker Barrel on this one, not only was it just the right serving size but the price was right.)
Regular Cheddar Cheese (ditto for the Cracker Barrel)
Pepper Jack Cheese block sliced for servings
Stone Ground Mustard
Ritz Crackers
Wheat Thins (pictured here are the Sundried Tomatoes)
Grapes
Red Delicious Apples
Bartlett Pears
Beef Summer Sausage
Sliced Pepperoni
Honey Roasted Peanuts
Cashews
Next time I think I’ll also add baby carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. It doesn’t get more complete than this.
So we have plenty of proteins, sweets from the fruit and an assortment of what just about everyone enjoys. I’m sure that given a few more minutes in the fridge I could come up with some more ideas. My friend said black and green olives would be a good addition too. We don’t care for them, but if it makes her happy sure I’ll add it.
The point is it doesn’t have to cost a lot and you don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen to make some fabulous football food and have everyone over. Sure I like to make some other recipes from time to time, but when you need something fast and easy, this looks great and tastes delicious. Best of all it scores a touchdown with my guest and with me since I’m not spending all my time in the kitchen.
