Why pay, when you can play this summer for free? I admit that since I’ve become a stay-at-home mom, I absolutely take advantage of the free opportunities available for family fun, especially during the summer months. Not only can it save us money, but it also encourages our family to try something that we may not have done before. Where do I find all these free family fun activities?
Read all about it! One of our favorite activities during the summer are reading programs. There are several available from your local library to stores and restaurants. Children (and adults) can receive suggested books to read and earn points, dollars, tokens and other prizes that you can cash in on throughout the summer to turn the reading into play.
Going local and the local library. It’s not just about books anymore. Many local libraries now offer movies, music, story and play times along with special activities and presentations. Everything there is free, but we also take time to get our books for that week’s reading and mommy likes to purchase the used books on the shelf, a purchase that may yield three books for her to read by the pool this summer for $1 and the money supports the programs that her family is participating in.
Make it and take it events. Local stores across the U.S. offer many free or low costs make it a take it events. Sometimes it is free and in some cases it is approximately $2 as you are asked to purchase supplies needed for the craft.
