Easy DIY Halloween chair or bar stool slip cover craft

halloween DIY bar stool chair slip cover We are running late with out Halloween decorations.  The outdoor lights are ordered and it was time to get to serious work on the inside of the house.   For us, decorating is more than just pulling out a box of items we keep throughout the year, but it’s also time to have some fun together creating a craft that we can all be thrilled to share.   Our most recent project was an easy (and cheap) Halloween bar stool cover.

You will need:

  • Standard size pillow cover/sheet (for bar stools you will need King or Queen size for most kitchen or dining room table sets).
  • Glue Gun
  • Felt stickers or felt designs
  • A little of this and that – to be honest we grab the craft drawers and dig around until we find what we want.  (Yard, ribbons, googly eyes etc).
First get a quick measurement of how much space you have to work with on your pillow case cover.  For us, the bottom 3 inches or so need to be left clear to fit on the bar stools.

Next, select your decorations and place them on the pillow case , just to get a good idea of what your finished product will look like.  On this one we used a felt pumpkin ($1.00 at the dollar store)   My daughter added a witches hat, googly eyes and used leaves to make the nose and mouth.  Next she added a felt ghost and then some sturdy stickers (I didn’t think they would stay on but they did!) of black cats, pumpkins, witches hats and even Frankenstein (thanks Hotel Transylvania)  Most everything was attached using a glue gun (that was mom’s job).

My other daughter used a felt haunted house ($1.00 dollar store) and then placed black cats, Frankenstein, witches and more all peaking through the windows.  Of course we need to have a full moon and tonight we will be adding the “broomstick” for the black cat as it flies across the full moon.
How much did I spend on this craft?   One chair is decorated for about $2.00-$4.00 depending on what you have in the house to choose from or if you have to buy a lot of things.

This easy Halloween chair/bar stool slip cover takes about 15-20 minutes to make depending on how many things your child wants to use.

Isn’t it cute?
