Most of the time when you think about Dunkin’ Donuts if you are like me you think of breakfast and coffee. Rich, tasty donuts and an assortment of breakfast sandwiches. But I found out the other day that they have so much more on the menu than that, including a very special happy hour from 2-6 p.m. known as this year’s first ever National Afternoon Latte and Macchiato Break.

As busy as we are during the holiday season I admit I often miss out on lunch finding myself starving by the time I pick the kids up from school. Of course since I didn’t eat I need a little pick me up. I was so excited to learn about the National Afternoon Latte and Macchiato Break at Dunkin’ Donuts. Stopping by to enjoy this “happy hour” I also was thrilled to learn about the Kolaches and Chicken Salad Sandwich, as well as variety of other menu items also available to tide me over until dinner. An iced Peppermint Mocha Macchiato and a Chicken Salad Sandwich and I was ready to get back on the road again to take on after school activities, homework, dinner, dishes, laundry, baths and bed.
And, since it is the holiday season, and every penny counts, I was even more excited to learn that it’s a very happy hour at Dunkin’ Donuts after I pick the kids up from school! From November 30 and through December 27, from 2 PM to 6 PM, all guests at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide can enjoy a hot or iced medium Latte or Macchiato for only $1.99.
The chicken salad sandwich was delicious with a lightly crisped croissant roll and the salad made just the way I like it with lots of white mean chicken in a cool mayo dressing. No muss, no fuss and I was able to eat it without anything falling on my lap.
The latte and macchiato are available regular, hot or iced as well as with a variety of flavors. My oldest daughter is 20 and just got off work – to head to college. She loves the full rich flavors of Vanilla so her drink of choice was an Iced Vanilla Latte. At $1.99 I think I can pick one up for her too, we can’t have her falling asleep in the classroom.
I was feeling a little Christmasy and ordered the Peppermint Moca Iced Macchiato, there’s nothing like the flavors of chocolate and peppermint right around the holidays. It still had all the deep, rich flavors of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, but with the added bonus of “boutique” coffee shop flavors, without the boutique price. It was actually hard to choose from: Vanilla, Caramel or Mocha as well as seasonal flavors like Peppermint Mocha, Snicker Doodle or Sugar Cookie.
Dunkin’ Donuts offers Espresso, Cappuccino and Lattes, and recently introduced Macchiato to its menu. This is good news to me, since it’s just around the corner and not far from the kids school so whenever we need a little snack or mom needs a little caffeine to get through the day it is really on our way. Dunkin’ Donuts’ espresso beverages are made with espresso beans that are 100% Fair Trade Certified™ and selected from the finest, high-quality Arabica beans. The Macchiato is a handcrafted, layered espresso beverage made with steamed milk topped with two shots of Dunkin’ Donuts’ rich, freshly-brewed espresso.
With all that to choose from it is a good thing it’s only $1.99, but the bad news is that is for a limited time.
