It’s time for dinner and there are tons of places in CityCentre to choose from all within walking distance of our home away from home this holiday weekend. Cyclone Anaya’s Mexican Kitchen is where we head for a magnificent Mexican dinner.
Disclosure: This was a part of the Go Houston campaign organized by New Creative Media. I received media rates for our dining experience. All other expenses were my own. All opinions expressed are 100% my own and my family’s.
At Cyclone Anaya’s select from the outdoor patio seating, the bar or the dining room. I admit on the 4th of July the air conditioned dining room is a welcome place to be. After ordering a margarita (which was really well made and none of that French stuff in it) we take a few minutes to look at the menu and decide what to get. Of course the kids don’t need any time when the server asked if we wanted an appetizer and promptly request Queso and chips. Mom on the other hand says it’s a holiday so let’s go with the ceviche. Chicken nachos are always a good idea too! After all we can take food home right?
One of the ways that I like to test the mettle of a Mexican restaurant is how good is their seafood enchilada. Yes, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. The Enchilada Del Mar was filled from tortilla edge to edge with delicious shrimp and creamy Chardonay cheese sauce and topped with avocado, poblano pepper and roasted pine nuts. It was perfection and the shrimp was large and tender – I hate it when it’s over cooked.
The kids ordered their standby, Bean and Cheese Burrito with a side of beans. As you can see from the video mom was lucky to get a picture of it at all. I think that means that it received their stamp of approval because they did have snacks at the pool so while I expect them to be hungry even this is a record eating time for them.
Mr. Money Saving Parent’s portions were HUGE. I mean really really big. He made his way through most of it but pretended he was saving room for the chocolate cake. After all you have to have just a little chocolate to finish off your meal on a holiday!
Overall a success with mom and dad and the kids. The service was excellent, though I will advise you that on weekends and holidays the wait time can be long. Be prepared for a wait, but once you are in there time flies – and not just because you are having fun but the service was that quick and efficient every time we have been there.
