Recently Mr. Money Saving Parent opened our three month car insurance billing statement and uttered a word not fit for blogs or babies. Apparently our car insurance premium had increased. Why you may wonder? We did and after making several phone calls to the car insurance company we didn’t have any satisfying results. No, we were not involved in any accidents. We didn’t have any tickets. We had not purchased a new car. There didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason behind this increase in car insurance premiums so we decided to do some comparison shopping.
Thanks to many online sites it is easy to “let your fingers do the walking” in a whole new way to find cheap insurance on a number of different products from home to health. I actually find it much easier to check the boxes and make my selections that it ever was to find the time to make an appointment to meet with my insurance agent. I don’t have to miss work and I can also compare from many different companies quotes at one time. I can also easily and quickly change factors like deductibles to find out how to make the most of my insurance shopping.
Of course there are things you need to consider when you are shopping online. You want to make sure you are using a reputable site. Do you have to create an account? Do you have to pay for the service before you get your quote? These are all things to consider but there are also many benefits too. After all Mr. Money Saving Parent and I finalized our new car insurance program online at about 11 p.m. at night with the company that I wanted (we had worked with them before) at a price he wanted. It is not often that you can get that done!
Many of us comparison shop for a great many things. Do we buy the first computer we find? Cell phone? Washer, dryer or other household appliances? No, we find the products we want and then we start the comparison pricing. Why not do the same thing for when you are looking for car, health, home or life insurance or other big purchases that affect your life and your budget?
What is your biggest savings after comparison shopping? We would love to hear from you and be sure to tell us where you got your bigger, better deal!

A lot of the insurance comparison sites don’t actually do comparisons for you online… they get your information from you and then ship it off to a bunch of different insurance companies who will call you and give you quotes. Try to find a real site that does actual comparison and not some site that will just sell away your contact information.

It takes work but comparison shopping is certainly a wise move to get a good and attractive insurance package. This may seem like a bother, but only by making a proper comparison can you determine which insurance plan can give you the best coverage at the lowest possible rate.
