I was first introduced to the CityPASS many years ago while planning a trip to San Diego. I was thrilled to find out that Houston also offers the CityPASS for those visiting the area and to be enjoyed by those living in the area.
Disclosure: I was provided with a CityPASS at part of the GoHouston travel event. All opinions expressed are my own and my families. All other expenses incurred are my own.
The CityPASS Houston
The CityPASS is a “savings plan” and guide to some of Houston’s hottest attractions. You receive your envelope complete with details and a map on where and how you can use the pass at the locations you visit. With one price you receive admission to Space Center Houston, Downtown Aquarium, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Zoo OR Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Kemah Boardwalk OR Children’s Museum of Houston.
With the handy guide and map it’s easy to plan out your days with the CityPASS and you have NINE days to use them. Have family visiting and want to show them the sites? Or maybe you are visiting Houston and want to make sure to not miss a thing? Either way this pass gets you were you want to be – without having to pay the regular entrance fees at those attractions and amusements.
Saving money is nice, but I admit I really appreciate the short lines too! At the Houston Museum of Natural Science you use the MEMBERS ONLY line and trust me that was a whole lot shorter than the general public. And, with the money you save on admission you can then turn around and go out to eat or add on additional activities at the locations like the IMAX theatre or Butterfly Exhibit. Or you could also use it to buy your souvenirs. I’m all about making my money go farther.
Other Advantages to the CityPASS Houston
Here are a few of my favorite things about the CityPASS Houston:
- It is valid for all amusement rides excluding Stingray, Boardwalk Beast, and Iron Eagle.
- It includes general admission to the Official Visitors Center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, including entry to the Space Shuttle Pavilion and a NASA Tram Tour.
- It includes general admission to permanent collections that comprise over 65,000 works of art, including non-ticketed special exhibitions at the Museum of Natural Science.
The price of admission for one adult to ALL the amusements included in the CityPASS is $106.98. The pass price is (as of date of writing) $50.98. You save over 40%!
So I save money, I get shorter lines, it includes everything we want to do – plus allows us to add more if we like. Next time my parents visit I’m not going to pass up the opportunity to use the Houston CityPASS for the whole family.
