For the past year or so I’ve been pretty creative with my hair colors. I’ve had red, purple, blue, platinum, and even a rainbow hue in my naturally brunette hair. But constant coloring not only takes a toll on my curly locks but it is REALLY expensive. I spoke to a couple of friends who take advantage of wigs to change their look up to match their outfit or their mood. I think it could be a fun way to express myself and add some versatility to my look. It could also keep my hair healthy and save me a whole lot of money. So I went online to take a look at wigs and learn a little bit more about this fun, fashion trend.
I admit to liking to shop online. It is so convenient and it can be done in the middle of the night once the kids are in bed. Since that is frequently how I shop it is no surprise to my family when they turned on the computer the next day to find a few windows open as I learned what I could about having and wearing a wig. One of the places I “shopped” was Divatress. It is website which not only offered outre wigs , but pony tails, wigs, weaves, hair care products and beauty supplies. I admit the beauty supplies page was probably the one I spent the most time on after I spent lots of time with the wigs.
There were different colors and lengths of wigs, curly and straight. There are over 50 brand name products available they offer amazing lace front wigs, extensions, remy weaves, and more. I found great pricing on curling wands, straighteners and hair care products from shampoo to styling. I have also wanted to try false eyelashes (as I get older I see they can now use a little more help than a swipe of mascara on special occasions) and they offered those too!
I also learned a great deal from Divatress as I explored the differences between synthetic and real hair wigs. There’s also wigs that you can curl or straighten changing your look up with just a little help from a styling tool, just like your own hair. I also found that even a wig has its own set of styling and care tools I’ll need to have.
Using the easy search tool sidebar I was able to have a great deal of fun window shopping. You can select from different types, colors, ratings and even price. There’s also the Divatress front page where you can find out what is currently popular and get some ideas from there.
Here’s some outre wigs that I really liked.
Why wear a wig?
My grandmother wore a wig because she missed her beautiful long black hair from when she was younger. She also felt pretty and more confident. My mother in law wore wigs after loosing her hair to chemo. The reasons may vary from wearing it because of health issues or just for fun. For me wigs would allow me to explore some of the styles and colors I would like to without the muss, fuss and expense that goes into the colors I want to try.
The outre ponytail is available in several colors. I found one that fits my natural hair color. I used to have a nice long pony tail and we would do different braids and styles with it. However, my hair dried out due to coloring and I had to get quite a bit cut off. With this type of wig I could enjoy the low maintenance hair styles I like (not just in the summer but especially now!) while my hair grows back out.
I can’t help but laugh a little bit at my older self. I remember my grandmother wearing a wig when I was in my late teens and with my first born (we lost her soon after that). But they say as you get older you get wiser. She must have already knew somethings that a lot of us are just figuring out. She didn’t wear a wig for others. She wore a wig for herself. She already knew wear what you want to wear, look how you want to look. There is nothing wrong with changing things up and there is nothing wrong with feeling your best.
