Breast cancer awareness month. I know that it should actually be every month that women (and men) pay attention to this life-threatening illness. This month, actually this week our family has once again found out just how life threatening it is as it attacks a beloved parent, not just for the first time, but for the third time. Yet, she keeps on fighting it. Seeing her strength reminds me that there really are no excuses for getting checked – even if it is just a self-check breast exam. After all, who knows your body better than you?
Have you done your personal breast exam this month? I haven’t. But the good news is there are still 18 days in the month.
I know all the excuses for not checking myself. I also know all the reasons why it can be hard to get a mammogram. For some of us it’s a financial burden. For others it is taking the time. So here’s a video to remind me to take the four minutes that a breast exam will take and hopefully it will remind you too.
