Here are three ways our family makes “bank” with our Box Tops. First the whole family can help get us in and out of the grocery store when they help do the grocery shopping. Make it more fun by treating it as a scavenger hunt. Later, Box Tops head to their own personal Box Top Bank. Lastly, make sure to pick up Bonus Box Tops whenever possible.
We introduced you to our top 10 reasons why back to school means back to Box Tops and why this is a rewards program which is important to our family. But what if doing the Box Tops for Education program could actually save you time in the grocery store and be fun for the whole family? There’s where our Box Tops Scavenger Hunt comes into play – no pun intended. It keep the kids engaged and entertained and even raise some much needed funds for your child’s school.
The Box Tops Shopping Scavenger Hunt
Here’s how it works. Box Tops are on all sorts of General Mills products, many of which you are probably putting on your grocery list right now. I know I am because many of them are also part of our every day use, especially during the school year as I try to find unique ideas for breakfast and for lunch. So, I create my grocery list and everyone gets a copy of it. The 20 yr old of course can go find things by herself, and sometimes will even take one of the girls. We all take our list and head off into the aisles to find the items on my shopping list, many of which are Box Tops items. Create your list by downloading the products available and then, use a highlighter to mark the items you wish to buy. I add a $ sign next to the ones that have a coupon so I don’t miss out on any savings.
The Box Tops Bank
Now it’s time to get creative with your Box Tops Bank. First, we recycle one of the boxes we brought home. At the beginning of the school year the kids create their own bank to store clipped tops in and then when it’s time to make our donation to the school we are all set – and no fights over who gets how many as we divide it out as they appear. Our bank used glue, ribbons, markers, stickers and glitter paint. My kids don’t think anything is perfect until it glitters.
Bonus Box Tops
Lastly, be sure to find bonus Box Tops while shopping in the stores, but that’s not the only place. You can also earn more for your school from this rewards program by shopping online at Walmart, where you earn even more bonus points. Be sure to visit Walmart online for more information about the bonus program.
One of the reasons that I participate in the Box Tops program is because there was a time when Box Tops were really all I could contribute. To this day, I still fill a sense of happiness when the kids take their box tops to school because I feel like I’m contributing in some small (or in same months) big way. But more importantly with the Box Tops Scavenger Hunt the whole family can get involved. Our Box Tops bank means everyone gets some tops to take to school and it’s fun way to personalize the experience for the kids, and avoid some of the fights over “But that’s my Box Top!”
When the kids help with finding the products, then come home and clip and snip the Box Tops from our products it’s providing them with an opportunity to be proud of their efforts too, especially we visit our school online and find out how much our Box Top efforts have raised for our school!
