This year I decided that it really wasn’t necessary to purchase backpacks for both girls. We had one that looked almost as new as the day we bought it. But it would be nice to “dress it up” a bit so my daughter didn’t feel left out when her Kindergarten sister got a backpack that was needed for her first year of school. When I first thought about Gutzy Gear that’s what I thought … we would just be adding some pizzazz to the backpack or book bag, but I was wrong! Not only did we enjoy some pizazz, but some pizza, pool and party fun!
What is Gutzy Gear?
Gutzy Gear is a soft soft sided Velcro strap that is places over your child’s book bag or backpack shoulder straps. Then you add all sorts of “gear” especially designed for the straps. There are a variety of colors, shapes and designs and the best part of all (other than they are so CUTE and my daughter’s got to express their own personalities), they can be traded too. So if my daughters want to trade with each other or a friend they can, which makes this gear fun to wear.
To see how much the kids would like Gutzy Gear we decided to introduce it during our super summer bash. After all in just a couple of weeks the kids will all be back to school and a swim/slumber party complete with pizza, rock and roll and not a whole lot of slumber seemed the perfect way to go out in style.
Enjoy our party!

What did we like about Gutzy Gear?
- Really, really cute patches
- Easy to do the kids didn’t need any of my help.
- All ages enjoyed it – from the Kindergarten, 1st grade, second grade, 5th grade, 7th grade and even a Senior in high school.
- Tons of patches choices.
- The kids got to express themselves, selecting what they like – my daughter for example had her dog, ice cream, ladybugs and flowers.
- Really nice quality, both in the straps and the patches.
- Fits well – and while not only cute it adds another cushion to their backpack straps making them more comfortable.
All of us thought these were not only a lot of fun, cute, and expressive but also gave the kids a chance to be their own designers. My daughter’s loved that part. And before you think that it was all about the girls, the party was – but there were plenty of boy patches choices to choice from too and the girls took those home to their brothers, except for those that wanted them for their own backpack! No one wanted those yucky boys around for a slumber party!
